M.E.M.O.R.I.E.S
Eight years later
Time goes by fast
Got my memories
And they will last
I try to keep it simple 'cuz I hate goodbyes
I try to keep it simple by telling myself that
I, I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I can say
But words get in the way so
We're not together
I will remember you
I will remember you
We're a picture in my mind
And when I wanna find you I just close my eyes
You'll never be that far from me
So don't say goodbye 'cuz
You'll never be that far from me I'm telling myself that
I, I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I can say
But words get in the way so
We're not together
I will remember you
You were there when I needed love and
Thank you, thank you
I never told you how much that meant
God thank you, thank you
I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I can say
But words get in the way so
I, I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I can say
But words get in the way so
We're not together I will remember
We're not together
I have tried forgetting.

A spicy meal before bed can disrupt sleep.
THE FACT:
An old wives' tale has it that a little kcik to the plate before bed can lead to fitful sleep, if not nightmares. Well, the advice is a good one. Research over the years has shown that a spicy meal at night can lead to poor sleep. The most direct study to show this was published in the International Journal Of Psychophysiology be team of Australian researchers. The scientist recruited a group of young, healthy men and had them consume meals that contained Tabasco sauce and mustard shortly before they turned in on some evenings and non-spicy control meals on other evenings. On the nights that included spicy meals, there were marked changes in the subjects' sleep patterns. They spent less time in both the light phase of sleep know as Stage 2 and the deep, slow-wave Stage 3 and 4 sleep. All of which meant that the subjects experienced less sleep overall and took longer to drift off. In accounting for the effect, an obvious possibility is indigestion. The scientists also noted that after eating spicy meals, the subjects' body temperature rose during their first sleep cycles, which has been linked in other studies to poorer sleep quality.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
A spicy meal before bed can impair sleep.
After all, death is every bit as natural as birth. So why fear it?
According to the American philosopher Tom Morris, there are at least four kinds of fear of death.
- There is fear of the process of dying. Here, death itself is not the problem, but rather those last hours and minutes as life ebbs away. We worry that dying might be a painful or frightening experience and dread it.
- There is fear of punishment. Some people believe that in the afterlife, they will be punished for their sins. Certain religions threaten dreadful consequences for quite commonplace faults and failings. This can cause great axiety, even to those whose lives are far from wicked.
- There is fear of the unknown. What happens when we die? Is death like sleep? Or is it mere nothingness? Is it terrifying? Or is it the beginning of a new and better existance? We simply do not know. And what we do not know, we fear.
- There is fear of annihilation. Some people believe - or worry - that death ends everything. Once death comes, the glorious gift of experience is gone forever. No more life; no more laughter; no more love; no more sunshine. This, I think, is the most fundamentail fear of all.
THREE CONSOLATIONS
But enough of doom and gloom. Let's take a look at the flip-side of the coin and consider some reasons for believing that death may not be such a bad thing after all. The greek philosopher Socrates (470-399BC) believed that it is irrational to worry about death, about ir. For all we know, it may turn out to be the greatest of all blessings. So there is absolutely no point getting worked up, or jumping to unpleasant conclusions. Socrates himself was tried and sentenced to death by the Athenian courts, accused of corrupting the youth and disbelieveing the ancestral gods. According to his pupil, Plato, he faced heath with remarkable composure: "The hour of departure has arrived and we go our ways - I to die and you to live. Which is the better, God only knows." The Roman politican and philosopher Seneca (4BC-65AD) also considered it irrational to fear death. He supported this view with what I think is a very beautiful argument: no one frets about their past non-existence (before they were born), so why should they fret about their future non-existence after they are dead? "Would you not think him an utter fool who wept because he was not alive a thousand years old? And is he not just as much of a fool who weeps because he will not be alive a thousand years from now? It is all the same; you will not be, and were not." Seneca was sentenced to death be the infamously wicked Roman Emperor Nero. In fact, he was ordered to commit suicide. And, like Socrates before him, he met his fate with extraordinary courage and fortitude. The philosopher Epicurus (342-270BC) considered the fear of death to be one of life's major sources of anguish. He devised a very famous argument to convince us that our fears are misplaced. "Death, the most dreaded of evils, is therefore of no concern to us; for while we exist, death is not present, and when death is present, we no longer exist."
Mayonnaise can increase the risk of food poisoning.
THE FACT:
One poplar picnic ingredient that always attracts suspicion is mayonnaise. But studies cast doubt on that. Most commercial brands of mayonnaise contain vinegar and other ingredients that make them acidic - and therefore very likely to protect against spoilage. When problems occur, they usually result from other contaminated or low-acid ingredients (like chicken and seafood), improper storage and handling, or homemade version that contains unpasteurised eggs. One prominent study published in The Journal Of Food Protection found, for example, that in the presence of commercial mayonnaise, the growth of salmonella and staphylococcus bacteria in contaminated chicken and ham salad either slowed or stopped altogether. As the amount of mayonnaise increased, the rate of growth decreased. When temperatures rose to those of a hot summer day, the growth increased, but not as much as in samples that did not contain mayonnaise. For backyard chefs, some high-risk foods are raw shellfish, bulk ground beef (health offcials say a single hamburger can contain meat from hundred of animals) and unwashed fruits and vegetables.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
Despite its reputation , mayonnaise can reduce food spoilage.
My dearest beloved.
A new study suggests that melanoma, the deadliest type of skin cancer, is on the rise among young women, but not among young men. The research team led by Mr Mark Purdue of the National Institutes of Health, examined data gathered from a network of cancer registries across the United States. The analysis focused on Caucasian women aged 15 to 39 who were diagnosed from 1973 to 2004. Increased incidence of melanomas was seen from the 1990s through it held fairly steady for men between 1980 and 2004. Researchers say it is not erntirely clear why more and more young women seem to be getting skin cancer. They suggest that the increase is not just the result of changes in the way the medical community tracks the disease. Separate studies have looked at sun damage trends. One study, cited on the WebMD website, reported that 16 to 18-year-olds had a higher incidence of sunburn and spent more days at the beach in 2004 then they did in 1998. More young people in the US, mostly women, are also using tanning beds. Studies suggest that UV rays from tanning beds and tanning lamps can be just as damaging as sun rays. Ultraviolet radiation is main risk factor for developing melanoma.
